The Story

The Heléne travel Velvet Holdall is designed for the art of departure. Cut from sumptuous velvet woven with a classic French floral line motif, it carries presence without excess. Structured when fully packed and elegantly relaxed when light, it adapts effortlessly to the rhythm of travel. This is a piece that moves from city platforms to countryside escapes with composed confidence.This linen tells the story of a household, not a single moment. Acquired from an estate collection of velvet cushions, fabric remnants, and a cream floral linen curtain, each fragment once lived quietly within the same home. Rather than isolate one surviving element, we assembled them into a unified patchwork that honours the whole collection — every piece a different chapter of the same domestic narrative. Now reimagined as the Helené Travel Holdall and its matching sling, this composition carries that history forward. The exterior preserves its layered past, while the interior introduces a composed counterpoint in checked silk, bringing structure and refinement to a piece designed for movement.

The Fabric

The exterior composition brings together structured linen, soft velvet, and floral-woven textile elements. The contrast between matte linen and the depth of velvet creates dimension, while varied pattern scales introduce quiet rhythm. Inside, a checked silk lining provides crisp visual structure and a smooth tactile contrast to the textured exterior.

The Making

Each exterior fragment was individually assessed, stabilised, and precisely cut before assembly. The patchwork construction preserves the integrity of the original textiles while ensuring structural cohesion and durability. Both the holdall and the matching sling are fully lined in checked silk and finished with three large internal pockets in the holdall for considered organisation. Seams are reinforced for longevity, allowing each piece to function as a unified structure while retaining the character of its individual origins.
