One of a kind

Every bag tells a story only you can carry

Handmade from vintage and reclaimed fabrics, each piece is irreplaceable — crafted slowly, with care, in a small studio.

Our Story

No two bags are ever the same

Atelier Ronette began with a simple love of beautiful fabrics that deserve a second life. Vintage florals, antique linens, and forgotten textiles — each with their own history — are carefully transformed into bags you can carry every day.

every stitch is considered. Every pattern is cut with intention. Because we source only reclaimed fabrics, the moment a bag is finished, it becomes the only one of its kind in the world.

This is slow fashion at its quietest. No rushing, no mass production — just thoughtful making, one bag at a time.

Our curated fabrics

Fabrics with their own stories

We spend years searching for extraordinary vintage fabrics — pieces with history, character, and the kind of beauty that only comes with age. Each one is sourced from markets, estates, and private collections across Europe and Japan.

French Farmhouse Linen
3-4 bags possible
Loire Valley, Francec. 1920s

French Farmhouse Linen

Found in a brocante in Amboise, this unbleached linen was once part of a farmhouse trousseau — the sheets and cloths a bride would bring to her new home. The fabric has a weight and softness that only a century of life can give. There are faint monogrammed initials in one corner, stitched by hand in pale blue thread. We don't know whose they are, but they feel like a signature worth keeping.

This piece has enough fabric for approximately 3-4 bags. Each bag made from it will be unique — but if you want this fabric to be yours alone, you can reserve the entire piece as part of your consultation.

Italian Silk Damask
2-3 bags possible
Como, Italyc. 1960s

Italian Silk Damask

From the silk-weaving region around Lake Como, this damask has the unmistakable lustre and drape of Italian craftsmanship. The woven botanical pattern catches the light differently depending on the angle — sometimes champagne, sometimes gold, sometimes nearly silver. It was likely part of a furnishing scheme in a villa or palazzo. We have enough for a handful of truly exceptional pieces.

Japanese Indigo Cotton
2-3 bags possible
Kurume, Japanc. 1950s

Japanese Indigo Cotton

Kasuri-style indigo cotton with the characteristic slightly imperfect geometric pattern created by resist-dyeing the threads before weaving. The deep indigo has the beautiful, uneven patina of natural dye that has been washed and worn and lived with. The Japanese concept of wabi-sabi — finding beauty in imperfection — is woven into every thread. This fabric carries decades of someone's daily life.

Provençal Floral Cotton
2-3 bags possible
Provence, Francec. 1940s

Provençal Floral Cotton

A traditional Provençal print in faded indigo and soft terracotta on a cream ground. This cotton was likely a curtain or a tablecloth in a mas somewhere in the Luberon. The print is the classic small repeat that defines the region — flowers and paisley, dense and joyful. The colours have mellowed into something quieter than they once were, and that mellowing is what makes it extraordinary.

Victorian English Chintz
4-5 bags possible
Englandc. 1880s

Victorian English Chintz

A glazed chintz with full-bloom roses in faded pink and sage on a cream ground. This is the fabric of English country houses — draped over armchairs, lining curtain pelmets, softening the corners of old rooms. The glaze has worn away in places, leaving the cotton bare and soft, and the roses have faded from what must have been a vivid pink to something gentler, more romantic. It smells faintly of lavender and old wood.

This piece has enough fabric for approximately 4-5 bags. Each bag made from it will be unique — but if you want this fabric to be yours alone, you can reserve the entire piece as part of your consultation.

Sustainability

A design principle, not a gesture

At Maison Belleterre, sustainability is not a marketing gesture but a design principle. Every bag begins with materials that already carry a history. By working exclusively with vintage, one of a kind fabrics sourced in France and England, we extend the life of exceptional textiles that might otherwise remain forgotten. This approach reduces waste while preserving craftsmanship, character, and the unique beauty that only time can create.

Our bespoke process is equally intentional. When clients entrust us with their own fabrics, we transform pieces of personal significance into objects designed for decades of use. Creating fewer, better pieces is central to our philosophy. We believe true luxury respects both provenance and longevity, favouring enduring design over excess and permanence over disposability.

Kind Words

From the people who carry them

“Having my late mother's fabric turned into something I can carry with me every day — it means more than I can put into words.”

Anya S.Brooklyn, NY

“I've never received so many compliments on a bag. People always ask where it's from, and I love saying it's the only one that exists.”

Clara M.Portland, OR

“The craftsmanship is extraordinary. You can feel the intention in every stitch. This is what fashion should be.”

Lena K.Austin, TX
